Behavioral Modifications

Behavior modification is a therapeutic approach designed to change a particular undesirable negative behavior. By using a system of positive or negative consequences, an individual learns the correct set of responses for any given stimulus.

Therapy for Children, Adolescents & Adults

People seek therapy for a wide variety of reasons, from coping with major life challenges or childhood trauma, to dealing with depression or anxiety, to simply desiring personal growth and greater self-knowledge. A client and therapist may work together for as few as five or six sessions or as long as several years, depending on the client’s unique needs and personal goals for therapy.

Parenting Skills

Parenting, though rewarding, may still be one of the most difficult and time-consuming aspects of a person’s life. In addition to tending to an infant or child’s daily needs, parents are also generally responsible for helping each of their children develop life skills, social skills, and appropriate behaviors, while accounting for the unique personality of each child. Parents who become overwhelmed may find the support of Surviving Transitions to be helpful, particularly when faced with a difficult situation or behavioral concern.

Couples & Marital Counseling

Relationships require work and are bound to face challenges large and small. Simple, everyday stressors can strain a marriage or intimate relationship, and major sources of stress may threaten the stability of the relationship. As long as each partner is willing to address the issue at hand and participate in developing a solution, most relationship problems are manageable, but when challenges are left unaddressed, tension mounts, poor habits develop, and the health and longevity of the relationship are in jeopardy. Surviving Transitions will help marriages or partners by supporting the goals set by the couple and helping each partner to communicate his or her needs, thoughts, and emotions more clearly and to listen to the other partner more carefully.

Family Preservation Services

Family preservation services are short-term, family-focused services designed to assist families in crisis by improving parenting and family functioning while keeping children safe.

Employee Assistance Programs (EAP)

The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is a benefit typically provided by employers to employees and their family members. It is usually free and confidential and can assist employees to resolve personal and work problems, which may be impacting work performance. The EAP can be an important resource for supervisor and for employees.
